Do you love the snow and snowmobiling? As kids, many are intrigued by the thought of driving through the snow. Depending on where you are in the world, snowmobiles can make travel easier and be a fun form of enjoyable recreation. There are trails designed specifically for snowmobiling use, which is very cool.

How to Make the Ultimate Snowmobile Cake

To make this cake, begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease two 11 by 15 inch rectangular cake pans with cooking spray. In a mixing bowl, beat water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Then, sift a box of yellow cake mix into the bowl and then mix thoroughly for two to three minutes. After the batter is ready, pour half of the mix into each cake pan, using a spatula to even out the batter. Then, place the cake pans in the oven and bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until fully cooked. Next, set the cakes aside to cool for five minutes, then gently remove from the cake pans and place on a drying rack to finish cooling.

Place the first cake onto a serving tray and apply a thin layer of vanilla icing on top. Then, place the second cake upside down on top and fill in any gaps with more vanilla icing. After, apply a thick layer of vanilla icing over the entire cake. Smooth out the cake on top using an icing spatula. Then, using a stainless steel cream spatula with square grooves add texture around the sides of the cake.

On top of the cake, apply a layer of sparkly blue sprinkles across. Then, plot vanilla icing on top of the cake and using the back of a spoon, spread out the icing in a snow-like motion. For the best effect, use extra icing and create varying layers of icing and the appearance of lots of snow.

Mix together blue icing by taking vanilla icing and add blue food coloring a few drops at a time. This way, you do not overpower the blue color and can make it custom to the way you like. Then, using a #19 Wilton cake tip pipe a border around the top and bottom of the cake. For the birthday message, bake a sugar cookie and use white royal icing on top. Then, when the icing is set, use a #5 piping tip to write “Happy Birthday _____” with the same blue icing as the border.

Finally, top the cake with two snowmobile figures. There are three options: making snowmobiles out of colored fondant, shaped sugar cookies with royal icing, or a toy figure. If you use the toy figure, only place it on the cake for singing happy birthday and then remove it and tell the guests that they cannot consume it. Additionally, the toy could be used as a small present for the guest of honor and add it to their collection.
