Spy Birthday Invitations

There are two types of secret agent homemade birthday invitations that come to mind. The first, spy party invitation would be created on a manilla folder. On the outside you can write some of the information about who the folder or “agent” being invited is. On the inside of the folder write the secret mission party information. Include the “assignment for the secret agent training”.  The other spy homemade invitation would be created on a magnifying glass. On the one side of the spyglass you have the party information and on the other side of the glass you can put the information about the secret mission that awaits.

Hello Agent Secret.
Please Report to headquarters for your newest assignment.

Spy Party Supplies

  • Using the color theme of red, black and white are great for a spy party.
  • Use a black table cloth, red plates and cutlery, black and white spotted napkins.
  • Create a theme wall that will have a case that you are trying to solve posted to the wall. Connect the dots with yarn. For our pictures we used old newspaper clippings from around the world and old black and white pictures of people who were our suspects and people connected to their crime spree.
  • Have a couple of tables or areas ready for games (more explanation below in the secret agent party game section).
  • Have an area organized before hand for where the agents will defuse the bomb.
  • There can be a snack area for the mystery flavored candy.
  • Of course you want a cake table. Here you can have a single cake or a multiple desserts like a mixture of cake with a side of cake bomb balls and tnt licroise.
  • In a hallway create a laser beam course made out of paper streamers.
  • Have a plate with magnifying glasses. These will be used in multiple games and activities.
  • At the door to enter the party have a handprint scanner for entrance.
  • Mylar helium balloons to match the color theme and question marks. Balloons can be hanging, floating in the air, wrapping around a door or create a number of the age of the secret agent that gets filled with multiple sized balloons.

Spy Party Games and Activities

  • Scan your hand to enter the spy party. Make sure you only include true secret agents in training.
  • Create your secret agent name and place it onto your nametag or personal identification card. The names are created by using your first initial of your first and last name. Look onto the template to see the name matches.
  • Who’s the Suspect - Match the fingerprint game. Each agent at the spy party is given a printout of fingerprints of suspects in a crime. Their job is to use their magnifying glass and match all the fingerprints. The agent who matches the correct fingerprints the quickest wins.
  • Clues and Missions - Go on a scavenger hunt to find a hidden bomb. The clues will lead the teams throughout your spy party zone (home, yard, park, etc.). Have multiple clues. Try to have between 8 to 12 clues depending on the age of people attending the party. The clue gets the teams to the new area. They need to complete a mission to get the next clue (written on the same page). For instance, they may need to dance, say a silly tongue twister, sing a song, etc.. The last mission will be to diffuse the bomb.
  • Diffusing a bomb - Create a bomb out of pringle chip containers. Wrap the outside of the chip containers with red construction paper. Attach the five chip containers with gray tape (I used thin duct tape). It is very sticky so be careful and know beforehand exactly where you are going to place it. On the top place a label of TNT. On the ends of the chip containers attach pipe cleaners for the wick. The piece of resistance is the addition of either a calculator and or watch. To diffuse the bomb the agents need to make the calculator say hello. Can the agents in a time crunch figure out which buttons to push on the calculator?

  • Play the game of Clue
  • Create an Escape Room within your house. Make sure the clues are able to be solved for the age group.
  • Laser Beam Course - set up a laser beam course in one or multiple hallways or rooms. Create this using paper spremers and tape. Have it hanging in multiple layers and angles. See which agent is agile enough to complete the course. For added challenge add a fan blowing on the agents. If they touch any laser they need to start the course again.
  • How to speak like a Secret Agent - what are some key phrase words and meaning. Create a game where you win mustaches for each time someone says a secret agent phrase at your spy party.
  • Complete a spy party word search

Spy Party Food

  • Licorice TNT bombs - Print out tnt signs on stips of paper. Lay out 4 or 5 licorice pieces and wrap with the tnt paper.
  • Mystery flavored Candy -  create a mini candy bar of the head secret agent's favorite candy. These can be placed in white or clear dishes when there is a strong color theme like our black and red themes.
  • Create Cake Bomb Balls - these are easier to make than you may think. First you create a cake ball. Set them onto a skewer so they can be high in the air. Dip each into either a melted chocolate or melted candy melts (we used a mixture to add different colors). Then while wet, dip into sprinkles and push in a thin licorice string for the wick. I placed them into metal pots that I found at the dollar store. Inside I used an artificial flower green foam and covered it with red tissue paper that would look like a flame. These looked amazing at the spy party as both decorations and delicious treats.
  • Create a Mystery Cake. I created a simple round double layer cake. I used plain white icing which I tend not to use as I find white icing always needs to be thicker. Then to create the design I used two sizes of Oreo cookies. Create a simple question mark on the top and round the sides with extra mini Oreos.

Spy Costume Ideas

Dress like a Secret Agent to attend the Spy birthday party. To do this I would suggest everyone wear black and dark sunglasses. If everyone had a black suit and black dresses it would dress up the event and make it appear like the agents are attending an international spy party.
