Despicable Me Party Ideas

You are going to have to trust me, these party ideas are going to be Despicably awesome. There are now three Despicable Me movies and with the announcement, a fourth is on its way. Starting with the supervillain Gru and his Minion henchmen, we meet Agnes, Edith, and Margo, as the excitement continues to grow. Check out the Despicable me party ideas below to become inspired for your special event and your guests will be over the moon with your fantastic party.

Despicable Me Party Invitations

Here are two options for making a homemade despicable Me party invitation:

Favorite character - start with a piece of white cardstock and draw your favorite character (Agnes, Margo, Edith, Gru, a Minion, etc.) in the bottom right handside. Then, across the top of the invitation write “assemble minions for _____’s party”. Underneath on the left hand side write the rest of your party information.
Movie ticket - make your invitations look like a movie ticket by cutting them to be tall and thin. Around the whole invitation, draw a blue border with marker. At the top of the invitation, say what Despicable Me (and whichever movie you are focusing on at your party, i.e. 1, 2, 3, or 4). Then, in the middle have minion characters being silly with party hats and your party information. At the bottom draw on a barcode to pretend it is for a real movie.

Use the color theme of yellow and blue - just like minions
Have a sign with the characters, focusing on Gru who says “At this party, you will not cry, or whine, or giggle, or sneeze, or burp, or fart”.

Roasting marshmallows over a campfire, not out of the back of a rocket
Makeovers - have a station with simple makeup for guests to use or hire a makeup artist
Make a unicorn - “it’s so fluffy I’m gonna die” - either have paints and brushes to paint a unicorn or have materials to make a replica of the one the minions made for Agnes (toilet brush, googly eyes, paper towel roll, etc.)
Build rockets - be inventive like Gru and make a model rocket out of macaroni
Go to a carnival - as Gru says, “now its my turn”
Baking cookies and decorate them to look like robot cookies
Pretend to be spy like Lucy and Gru in Despicable Me 2
Watch or perform some ballet (in the movie the recital takes place on May 26)
Pin the goggles on the minion

Have a dance battle and the winner gets bubble gun - just like between Gru and Balthazar Bratt in the third movie
Duck, duck, chicken - a version of duck, duck, goose, where you are trying to run away from the security chicken in Despicable Me 2 by playing salsa music and yelling “chicken” instead of duck

Pancakes - use cookie cutters to make fun shapes and decorate with syrup and fruit
